Job Description:
FQE Power is currently seeking a Pipe Engineer-In-Training to join our team. Pipe E.I.T. will be responsible for supporting the engineering department with design and engineering of temporary pipe installations and is anticipated to be primarily a remote position (estimated at 90% working from home and 10% in office). Pipe E.I.T. will be responsible for utilizing information from our process engineering department to develop temporary high energy piping systems.
Day to day work activities will include.
- Development of 3D models using CADWorx plant design software.
- FQE Power will provide training to develop piping engineering skills
- Routing concept will be based on Process Flow Diagrams from FQE process engineers.
- Pipe routing will be integrated with customer 3D model utilizing Navisworks software.
- Routings will be optimized based on multiple parameters:
- Meet all process requirements: Flexibility and equipment interfaces, Supportability and Contractibility
- Gain understanding of relevant piping codes, ASME B31.1 in particular.
- Develop pipe stress analysis models.
- FQE will provide training in the use off pipe stress analysis software
- Utilizing Caesar II software or AutoPipe depending on customer requirements
- Evaluate piping systems based on appropriate thermal and load cases for temporary commissioning processes.
- Develop 3D pipe support concepts for subsequent detailing by pipe design department.
- Assist pipe design department with 3D modelling of secondary, low-energy piping systems as needed.
- Perform vibration analysis on high energy piping systems using FQE internal processes.
Some travel may be required to gain field experience. It is anticipated that about 1-3 months of the first year will require field work to provide the E.I.T. with a pragmatic approach to pipe design.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in related field, Mechanical Engineering Preferred.
- High GPA (>3.5) is desirable
- Clearly demonstrates an understanding of engineering fundamentals.
- Strong computer skills
- FQE Power will provide training in the use of relevant software
- Strong CAD skills are desirable
- Client model interface is Navisworks
- AutoPipe and Caesar
- MathCAD for calculations such as vibration analysis and wall thickness calculations.
- Fluency in English is a requirement
- Fluency in a second language is desirable – ideally Spanish, Korean, or Arabic

This is a junior level position, prior related work experience is desirable but not a requirement

Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
