The Grand Narrows Waterfront Development Society (GNWDS) is a volunteer-led non-profit dedicated to revitalizing the historic Grand Narrows waterfront. At the heart of our efforts is the Wheelhouse Cafe, a seasonal community restaurant offering fresh food, stunning views of the Bras d’Or Lake, and a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.
For the June-September 2026 season, we’re hiring Cooks to join our kitchen team. All ages are welcome to apply. Experience is an asset, but we’re happy to provide training.
Position Details:
- Seasonal role: late June to early September
- $18/hour + participation in the tip pool
- Weekend availability required
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items to restaurant standards
- Ensure food presentation is consistent and high quality
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen
- Properly store food and monitor ingredient quality
- Wash and organize dishes, cookware, and utensils
- Assist with inventory tracking and supply needs
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous cooking or kitchen experience is an asset
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation protocols
- Team-oriented and reliable with strong communication skills
- Food handling certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- High school diploma or equivalent
