Summary Description
Under minimal supervision, completes a wide range of cleaning and maintenance duties for all the building areas including outdoor areas. Additionally completes tasks assigned as per Building System Manager.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assists in maintaining a safe and secure building.
2. Conducting routine inspections of premises (inside & outside) and equipment.
3. Handling basic repairs and maintenance.
4. Lighting checks throughout the building and replacement as required on a scheduled basis
5. Maintenance requests if applicable.
6. Monitor security systems and perform exit door checks on a scheduled basis.
7. Vacuum and Shampoo carpets and furniture on a rotational basis, as well as an “as needed” basis
8. Transport garbage and recyclables to designated areas and maintain clean and organized waste disposal area and loading dock
9. Keeps all public washrooms and elevators spotless, sanitized and fully stocked
10. Maintain offices by removing garbage, vacuuming, dusting and disinfecting where necessary on a scheduled basis.
11. Assist with room turnovers, ensure vacant rooms “move in ready”
12. Ensure laundry, housekeeping and maintenance areas are well organized and clean.
13. Ensure duties are performed to operational standards and record keeping evidence is maintained, as required by regulatory bodies and Swan Evergreen Village.
14. Performs other related duties as required.
Education and Experience
- Prior maintenance/janitor experience.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to use common tools such as hammers, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Must have 2 years experience in maintenance & cleaning.
- Experience performing routine maintenance.
- Strong organizational and follow up skills.
- Attention to detail, initiative to get tasks completed in a timely manner
- Professional presentation with a flexible and coachable attitude
- Ability to maintain focus while working independently and as a team when required
