Job Summary
Letterlock Group is looking for a dependable driver for Cross Border & Local Delivery. You will be transporting goods/orders/shipments between Washington, USA, and our warehouse in Abbotsford, BC, as well as delivering and receiving goods/orders/shipments to and from various places around the Fraser Valley.
This position is ideal for a driver looking for steady, daytime part-time hours with an excellent work-life balance, while still offering room for professional growth.
PLEASE NOTE: The ability to freely and legally drive between Canada and the USA is an absolute must.Tasks Include:Local Pickup/Delivery:
- Loading packages to be delivered and organizing products from the warehouse into your vehicle.
- Unloading products in and out of the truck as needed throughout the day, taking special care of fragile parcels.
- Verifying the list of packages against shipping papers, checking information/specifications, and documenting delivery details (sheets or waybills).
- Unloading and organizing products in the Canadian warehouse and making note of their final location in our database.
- Following the scheduled route for daily deliveries, while adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Collecting signatures or payments, if necessary, upon arrival to the recipient client.
- Establishing and maintaining courteous relations with customers and reporting all emergencies/accidents.
- Tracking, maintaining, and keeping us up-to-date with fleet vehicle physical conditions, highway regulations, and commercial road regulations.
Cross-Border Delivery:
- Transporting cargo to and from the USA.
- Obtaining special permits and other documents from our Cross Border Staff required to transport cargo on international routes.
- Maintaining accurate and legible documentation for our office, customer records, and international border crossings.
- Effectively communicating with USA and Canadian Border Officials.
Ad-Hoc Facility Support:
- Assisting with general facility upkeep and minor maintenance tasks during quieter driving periods (e.g., minor repairs, replacing light fixtures, or basic facility upkeep as needed).
Additional Responsibility:
- Vacation Coverage: Covering the full-time driver's two-week vacation period each year. This will require working full-time hours during this period, and the additional work will be compensated accordingly.
Promotion from Within / Wage Increase Incentives:
There are several tasks to increase a driver’s effectiveness and efficiency, resulting in an hourly pay increase and a new employee contract. These areas/responsibilities include:
- Step 1: Acting as a warehouse Shipping Clerk (using software to generate shipping labels) for some customers.
- Step 2: Monitoring and keeping the primary vehicle up to date with commercial road regulations.
- Note: As business volumes scale, this role has the potential to formally evolve into a full-time position by integrating these retail and shipping clerk duties.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's license (Class 1 or 3 is an asset) and a clean driving record.
- Valid passport, FAST card, or equivalent commercial clearance required to cross the US border without restriction.
- Previous driving experience preferred.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle physical tasks: Regularly lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasionally lifting up to 70 lbs (32 kg) unassisted (although assistance is almost always available).
- Basic understanding of IT/mobile devices for tracking dispatching and inventory.
