Job Title: Professors (Part-Time) - Applied Soil Mechanics
Department: School of Trades & Technology – Civil Engineering Program
Location: Commerce Court Campus – North Bay, ON
Contract Duration: September 8 – December 18, 2026 (14 weeks excluding Reading Week)

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline preferred or;
- Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) with extensive geotechnical experience (strong knowledge of: Soil classification, Compaction and consolidation, Shear strength, Bearing capacity, Slope stability, Canadian geotechnical standards and practices Field and laboratory testing expertise may be considered
- Previous post-secondary teaching experience informed by excellence with various learning
- theories and methods
- Highly effective communication, presentation, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a post-secondary setting
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in learning management systems, as well as the use of remote delivery and educational technologies
- Previous teaching experience is an asset
- Must be able to reliably commute to the Commerce Court Campus in North Bay, ON required
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate effective learning related to:
- CIV310 – Applied Soil Mechanics
4 hours/week
- Work closely with students and colleagues to provide an optimal learning environment
- Perform all responsibilities associated with the learning environment including preparation, delivery, and evaluation of theory and practical learning activities
