A vibrant senior’s care residence in Vancouver, BC, is seeking a dynamic Recreation Therapist to be their Manager of Therapeutic Recreation & Volunteer Services to steer their care home's innovative leisure programs.
Reporting to the Director of Care, you'll champion resident-centered therapeutic recreation while supervising a dedicated team and engaging directly with residents, volunteers, and community partners.
As an integral member of the care team, this role offers a Recreation Therapist a unique blend of hands-on leadership and strategic oversight: from implementing meaningful programs that enrich residents' physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being, to coordinating volunteers and managing special events.
As a valued member of the interdisciplinary team, you'll influence quality of life and resident engagement, while ensuring compliance with provincial standards and best practices.

- Salary: $68,000 to $78,000

Job Summary
The Manager of Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteer Services oversees the development, implementation, and evaluation of therapeutic recreation programs and volunteer initiatives. Duties
- Recreation Therapists, develop, coordinate, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs tailored to client needs.
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers involved in recreation and volunteer services.
- Recreation Therapists, manage departmental budgets, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and compliance with financial policies.
- Recreation Therapy, oversees program scheduling, registration, and documentation to ensure smooth operations.
- Recreation Therapists, foster relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and stakeholders to expand program reach.
- Recreation Therapy, monitor program outcomes and prepare reports for leadership to inform strategic planning.
- Recreation Therapists, ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and regulations related to therapeutic recreation activities.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in program management within therapeutic recreation or related fields.

- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple programs simultaneously.
- Knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and best practices.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and community partners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation (CTRS/BCTRA)
- Demonstrated leadership ability with a commitment to enhancing client services through innovative programming.
