Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Render comprehensive care to patients and participates in related cardiac catheterization and radiology invasive procedures which can include scrubbing for procedures, monitoring, drug and contrast administration, and completion of required nursing documentation. Will assist physicians in the performance of invasive procedures. Assessment and care of the patient is the primary function of the Heart Catheterization Lab/Electrophysiology Lab (HCL/EPL) registered nurse. Promotes a safe environment by using protective devices and radiation protection practices. Performs his/her designated duties in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.
Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Minimum 2 years recent Cardiac Critical Care Nursing experience combined with the completion of an accredited Critical Care Program preferred. Minimum, 6 months recent Cardiac Critical Care experience and the successful completion of an accredited Critical Care Program required. Demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation as evidenced by a mark of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam. Advanced Cardiac Life Support an asset.
