We're looking for a Senior Bookkeeper to take ownership of the day-to-day financial administration of the company. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys bringing structure, accuracy, and accountability to a growing organization. You'll work closely with leadership to ensure financial information is timely, accurate, and actionable.
This is more than a data-entry position. We are looking for someone who can think critically, identify issues, improve processes, and help management understand the financial health of the business.
What You'll Be Responsible For
Financial Administration
- Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts
- Process daily financial transactions and reconciliations
- Support month-end and year-end close procedures
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
Accounts Payable
- Process supplier invoices and payments
- Reconcile vendor statements
- Manage payment schedules and cash flow requirements
- Maintain positive vendor relationships
Accounts Receivable
- Generate customer invoices accurately and on time
- Monitor outstanding receivables
- Follow up on overdue accounts
- Resolve billing discrepancies and customer inquiries
Payroll Administration
- Prepare payroll information and supporting documentation
- Maintain payroll records
- Administer employee deductions, benefits, and remittances
- Ensure payroll information is accurate and submitted on schedule
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules
- Reconcile bank, credit card, and balance sheet accounts
- Assist with budgeting and cash flow reporting
- Monitor financial trends and identify discrepancies
Process Improvement
- Strengthen financial controls and administrative systems
- Improve reporting accuracy and efficiency
- Support operational leaders with job costing and financial information
- Work with external accountants and advisors as required
What We're Looking For
Required Experience
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial reporting
- Experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
Preferred Experience
- Experience in construction, landscaping, arboriculture, trades, or project-based businesses
- QuickBooks experience
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
- Payroll administration experience
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Bookkeeping
