Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dynamic Sous Chef to join our culinary team for Mee Bar at the TimeOut Market. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Executive Chef, overseeing daily kitchen operations, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality dishes. The Sous Chef will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, maintaining food safety standards, and assisting in menu development to enhance our culinary offerings, especially during dinner service.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Chef in managing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and cooking processes.
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and high standards of food quality.
- Oversee food handling procedures to maintain safety and hygiene standards in compliance with health regulations.
- Coordinate food service activities, including plating, serving, and ensuring timely delivery of dishes.
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
- Train and mentor team members to develop their culinary skills and promote a positive work environment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Support restaurant management in implementing new menu items and special promotions.
- Uphold exceptional customer service standards by ensuring guest satisfaction with food quality and presentation.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and food service within a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Supervising experience with demonstrated leadership capabilities in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper handling procedures.
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster collaboration.
- Solid understanding of restaurant management principles, including inventory control and menu development.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Previous experience in the food industry or restaurant experience is highly desirable.
