TUQ4 is a specialized contaminated soil recycling facility located near Nanticoke, Ontario. We transform complex waste streams into beneficial-use materials through advanced physical, chemical, and thermal treatment processes. The Heavy Equipment Operator plays a key role in supporting daily soil processing and site operations through the safe and efficient operation of equipment in an active industrial environment. This position requires strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and a commitment to maintaining safe and productive operations.
Operators at TUQ4 work closely with Site Management, Labourers, and Processing Personnel to support material movement, site organization, stockpile management, and operational workflows. Equipment may include excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, rock trucks, and other site-specific machinery.
This role is well suited to individuals who take pride in equipment operation, work safely and efficiently in fast-paced environments, and are interested in growing within a specialized and evolving industry.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment in support of contaminated soil processing and site operations
- Operate equipment including, but not limited to, excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, rock trucks, and other site-specific equipment and attachments
- Perform material handling activities, including loading, unloading, stockpiling, blending, and movement of soil, aggregate, and other materials
- Support active processing operations through safe coordination with Labourers, Truck Drivers, and Site Management
- Conduct routine equipment inspections and complete daily equipment checks prior to operation
- Refuel, clean, grease, and maintain equipment in accordance with company procedures and manufacturer recommendations
- Identify and report equipment deficiencies, mechanical issues, and required repairs or maintenance to Supervisors or Maintenance Personnel
- Secure and properly utilize equipment attachments as required for operational activities
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe operating areas around equipment and processing zones
- Follow all company health, safety, and environmental procedures and participate actively in safe work practices
- Operate equipment with a strong awareness of surroundings, personnel, and changing site conditions
- Assist with site maintenance and operational support activities as required
- Collaborate effectively with team members to support efficient and productive site operations
- Provide guidance or support to less experienced operators or Labourers when appropriate
- Demonstrate willingness to participate in additional training, certifications, and professional development opportunities related to equipment operation and industrial processes
- Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by Site Management or Supervisors

- Ability to work extended shifts (up to 12 hours) and additional hours as operationally required
Experience:
- Experience operating heavy equipment in industrial, construction, remediation, earthworks, or related environments
- Experience operating equipment such as excavators, loaders, dozers, skid steers, rock trucks, or similar heavy equipment
- Finish operating experience and ability to perform precise material placement and grading activities
- Experience working with contaminated soil, waste management, remediation, or similar material handling operations is strongly preferred
- Heavy Equipment Operator training, certification, or related education is considered an asset
- Mechanical awareness and ability to identify basic equipment maintenance or operational concerns is an asset
Other:
- Valid Class G driver’s licence required; ability to operate company vehicles and travel off-site as required
- Eligible to work in Ontario and travel within Canada if required
- Fluent in written and verbal English; additional languages are considered an asset
- Reliable transportation to and from the site location
- Physical stamina and ability to work in outdoor industrial environments in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift, move, push, and pull materials and equipment as required by operational activities
