Job Title: Senior Embedded Firmware Developer
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Embedded Firmware Developer to lead the development of cutting-edge Battery Management Systems (BMS). As a senior member of our engineering team, you will take ownership of critical firmware components, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the overall technical strategy for our embedded systems. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep commitment to innovation in energy storage technology.
Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Lead the architecture, design, and development of embedded firmware for advanced BMS applications.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level firmware developers, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
- Define and enforce best practices in coding standards, documentation, and testing methodologies.
Embedded Firmware Development:
- Design, implement, and test robust, efficient, and reliable firmware solutions for BMS applications.
- Develop and optimize algorithms for battery state estimation, cell balancing, charging, and protection mechanisms.
- Ensure firmware scalability, modularity, and maintainability to support evolving product requirements.
Hardware Integration:
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to define hardware requirements and ensure seamless integration of firmware with hardware components.
- Conduct hardware-firmware co-debugging, resolving complex issues to achieve optimal system performance.
System Debugging and Validation:
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans for firmware validation, including unit tests, integration tests, and system-level tests.
- Utilize advanced debugging tools and techniques to troubleshoot and resolve firmware issues in a timely manner.
Documentation and Standards Compliance:
- Produce high-quality documentation, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and test plans, to facilitate cross-team collaboration and knowledge retention.
- Ensure firmware adheres to industry standards, safety regulations, and certification requirements relevant to battery management systems.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Act as a technical liaison between cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and product management.
- Communicate project progress, technical challenges, and proposed solutions effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in embedded firmware development, including some leadership roles.
Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of embedded systems, microcontroller architectures, and real-time programming.
- Proficiency in C and C++ programming languages, with a strong emphasis on memory management and optimization.
- Extensive experience with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Familiarity with RTOS (Real-Time Operating Systems) and low-level hardware interfaces.
- Knowledge of battery technologies, BMS architectures, and related control algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), CI/CD pipelines, and debugging tools.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity principles for embedded systems.
Leadership & Problem-Solving:
- Proven track record of leading technical projects and mentoring engineering teams.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions under tight deadlines and competing priorities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with functional safety standards such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 or UL 2580
- Familiarity with edge computing and IoT frameworks for connected devices.
- Exposure to machine learning techniques for predictive maintenance and battery analytics.
- Knowledge of thermal and power management systems.
