Position Summary:
We’re seeking a competent and experienced Human Resources & Admin Officer to manage and execute all HR functions in alignment with organizational objectives. This role oversees recruitment, training, performance management, employee relations and compliance across our Canadian operations (currently, 3+ branches and 50+ employees). The HR Administrator will also assist the management in updating the HR policies in accordance with employment acts and standards, advise leadership on HR strategies and drive initiatives to enhance employee engagement and retention. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and self-motivated practitioner with strong interpersonal skills, knowledgeable in Canadian labor laws, and committed to fostering a positive workplace culture.
Work Location: Edmonton, AB T6V 0M7 (in-person work only).
Key Responsibilities:
- Be an ambassador for the company’s mission and values, and support the management team to cultivate and sustain a positive work environment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all HR-related requests, responding promptly and professionally to employee and management inquiries.
- Perform core HR administrative functions, including scheduling, attendance management, payroll & benefits administration, time-off & vacation tracking and HR record-keeping.
- Act as a liaison for external HR-related communications with agencies such as CRA, labor boards, etc.
- Address employee concerns, investigate complaints as they arise and assist in conflict resolution.
- Plan and execute the full recruitment lifecycle, including onboarding, training and employee integration.
- Advise and support leadership and departmental managers on HR policies, labor laws and workplace best practices.
- Maintain and update employee handbook and HR policies, ensuring compliance with Canadian employment standards, human rights legislation and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Support managers in performance management, disciplinary actions and terminations, ensuring consistency and legal compliance.
- Design and implement employee engagement and retention programs aimed at enhancing productivity and job satisfaction.
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics, and present data-driven insights to senior leadership to support strategic decision-making.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in human resources management in a Canadian setting.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, labor standards, and HR best practices in Canadian jurisdictions.
- Proven track record in talent acquisition, retention and employee development.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, Google Workspace, MS Office Suite, Payroll software and HR applications.
- Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical abilities to prioritize and manage tasks.
- High ethical standards, discretion, and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work independently, lead initiatives, and collaborate across all organizational levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or HR certification (CHRP/CHRL).
- Experience in change management and organizational development.
- Proficiency in French.
- Management experience in service industries (incorporation, paralegal, digital marketing etc.).

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday (occasional weekends as needed).
- 8-hour shifts between 7 am - 6 pm MST.
