Glasshouse is looking for a motivated and organized Sous Chef to join our leadership team in a primarily daytime role. This position is perfect for a chef who enjoys building systems, mentoring cooks, and setting the team up for success while still being hands-on in service.
As our Sous Chef, you will lead the kitchen through prep production, execute lunch service, and ensure the evening team walks into a kitchen that is organized, stocked, and ready for a successful dinner service.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading daily prep production and ensuring all stations are set up for success.
- Cooking and leading lunch service alongside the kitchen team.
- Managing prep lists, production schedules, and pars.
- Supporting ordering, inventory management, and minimizing waste.
- Training and mentoring line cooks and prep cooks.
- Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards.
- Working closely with the Head Chef to improve systems, recipes, and kitchen operations.
- Ensuring the evening team is fully set up with prep completed, stations stocked, and clear communication on priorities for dinner service.
- Contributing creative ideas for seasonal menu changes, weekly features, and special events.
- Collaborating on the development of tasting menus and curated dining experiences.
- Participating in recipe development, costing, and menu innovation while helping maintain consistency and quality standards.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or strong leadership experience as a Line Cook.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to lead by example and maintain a positive kitchen culture.
- Experience with prep management, ordering, and inventory is an asset.
- Creativity and passion for menu development and seasonal ingredients.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and consistency.
- Passion for hospitality, local ingredients, and cooking from scratch.
