Position Summary:
Temporary Summer Student Opportunity | 8 Week Term
Kenneth E. Spencer Memorial Home is seeking friendly, motivated, and compassionate summer students to join our team at our 200-bed long-term care facility.
The successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in a healthcare environment while supporting various areas of our operations, including resident services, recreation, rehabilitation, and administrative support.
Working alongside our team of healthcare professionals, students will assist with programs and services that support residents’ independence, dignity, safety, and overall quality of life, while contributing to a positive and caring environment.

Responsibilities may include:
- Support resident programs, services, and daily activities
- Assist with recreation, leisure, and wellness activities
- Support rehabilitation programs and resident independence initiatives
- Assist with documentation, organization, and administrative duties as required
- Communicate respectfully with residents, families, staff, and healthcare professionals
- Build and maintain positive relationships with residents and team members
- Promote a healthy, safe, and caring environment
- Follow organizational policies, procedures, and safety practices
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Must be a full-time Grade 12, university, or college student in the current academic year (2025–2026) and returning to full-time studies in Fall 2026
- Comfortable interacting with seniors in both individual and group settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to meet the physical requirements of the assigned role
Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility
This position is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must meet the program eligibility requirements, including:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with provincial legislation and regulations

- Availability for days, evenings, and weekends may be required depending on the assigned area
- Anticipated Start Date: July 2, 2026
