We are seeking a professional Cruise Director / Floor Manager for one of Toronto’s premier yachts. In this role, you will manage and oversee event staff while coordinating a variety of events, including weddings, corporate functions, and private parties.
You will be responsible for:
- Coordinating events on two yachts and overseeing up to 20 staff members.
- Following professional hospitality standards for food, beverage, and service.
- Managing pre- and post-cruise procedures, including setup, floor plan management, cleanup, and closing duties.
- Liaising with guests in a courteous and professional manner to exceed expectations.
We are a full-service venue with a liquor license, hosting chartered events for up to 280passengers, including food, beverage, décor, and entertainment. Cruises typically run 4–6 hours, and schedules may vary between 10–40 hours per week (not guaranteed). Pay is hourly plus gratuities, with regular shifts ranging from 4–10 hours depending on the event. The role requires availability every day of the week, including weekdays and weekends.
Responsibilities
- Lead event setup and ensure floor plan accuracy, service needs, décor, and bar requirements are met according to event specifications (BEO).
- Coordinate setup and teardown with servers, kitchen staff, and facilities staff.
- Conduct pre-event walkthroughs to ensure all elements are in place.
- Maintain accurate records of event details, including guest counts, special requests, and service notes.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to guests.
- Remain energetic, friendly, and calm under pressure.
- Demonstrate strong math skills for event and sales management.
- Support the team with a strong work ethic, working days, nights, and weekends as required.
- Utilize first aid, food handling, and bar experience where applicable.
Qualifications
- Proven leadership experience in a restaurant, event, or hospitality role.
- Smart Serve certification is required.
- Hospitality degree is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Excellent communication and team management skills.
