Position Overview
We are seeking a Photogrammetry Specialist to support our Canadian operations. This role requires a technical powerhouse capable of navigating the unique geographical and regulatory landscape—from high-precision urban LiDAR captures to remote drone missions.
The successful candidate will manage the full project lifecycle across multiple platforms: piloted aircraft, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), and terrestrial sensors. You will be responsible for ensuring all deliverables meet Provincial and National standards for accuracy and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Lifecycle & Sensor Integration
- Mission Planning: Design flight plans for piloted aerial photography and RPAS operations, accounting for Canadian airspace classifications and weather constraints.
- Multi-Platform LiDAR: Oversee the end-to-end workflow for Airborne LiDAR (ALS) and Terrestrial Laser Scanning (TLS), including trajectory processing, boresight calibration, and point cloud classification.
- Ground Survey Coordination: Manage the integration of ground control using GNSS (RTK/PPK) and traditional survey methods, ensuring seamless alignment with the Canadian Spatial Reference System (CSRS).
2. Technical Processing & Quality Assurance
- Lead Aerial Triangulation (AT) and bundle adjustment for large-scale mapping projects.
- Supervise the production of high-resolution orthophotos, Digital Terrain Models (DTM), and 3D city models.
- Perform qualitative air photo Interpretation analysis of stereo imagery for vegetation mapping, geomorphology, or historical land-use assessments—a key asset for our environmental and engineering clients.
3. Regulatory & Safety Leadership
- Ensure all drone operations strictly adhere to Transport Canada CARs (Canadian Aviation Regulations), including maintaining Special Flight Operations Certificates (SFOC) where required.
- Maintain rigorous QA/QC protocols to meet or exceed American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) and provincial surveying standards.
- Providing technical guidance to junior technicians.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Preferably 3-5 years in Geomatics/Photogrammetry.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expert knowledge of photogrammetric software (SimActive, Trimble Inpho, Pix4D, or Agisoft Metashape).
- Mastery of LiDAR suites (TerraSolid, LP360, or Riegl RiProcess).
- High level of comfort with GIS/CAD platforms (ArcGIS Pro, AutoCAD, Global Mapper).
- Professional Designations:
- Eligible for or working towards professional designation, including P.Eng (Geomatics), ALS/BCLS/OLS/CLS (Commissioned Surveyor).
- Preference may be given to candidates eligible for Certified Photogrammetrist status from the ASPRS or comparable international credentials.
- RPAS Knowledge: Deep understanding of Transport Canada’s "Basic" and "Advanced" operations categories.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $100,000. Comprehensive health and dental benefits, RRSP with employer matched contributions, training & development, and educational assistance is provided.
