The YMCA has repurposed former school facilities in Penticton and Summerland to provide equitable access to recreation, health, wellness, and fitness opportunities for the South Okanagan community. We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Facility Cleaner to support the cleanliness, safety, and overall presentation of these spaces.
This is a permanent part-time position working approximately 10 hours per week between both locations. The schedule offers flexibility and can be arranged with the successful candidate based on facility needs.

Clean, well-maintained facilities are essential to creating positive experiences for YMCA members, participants, staff, and visitors. This role helps ensure our community spaces are welcoming, healthy, and safe for everyone who uses them.
As a Facility Cleaner, your attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness will directly support YMCA programs and services that strengthen individuals, families, and communities across the South Okanagan.
Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of YMCA facilities in Penticton and Summerland.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the facilities.
- Remove garbage and recycling and maintain disposal areas.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, and clean all assigned spaces.
- Clean and sanitize washrooms, fixtures, windows, and high-touch surfaces.
- Monitor and replenish facility supplies, including soap, hand sanitizer, paper towels, and other consumables.
- Support YMCA staff in maintaining facility cleanliness standards and expectations.
- Open and close facilities as required to complete cleaning duties while following established safety procedures.
- Create a positive and welcoming environment for staff, volunteers, members, participants, and visitors.
- Identify and report facility concerns, maintenance issues, or safety hazards.
- Contribute to a culture of safety, respect, and exceptional service.
- Previous cleaning, custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience is an asset.
- Strong commitment to cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail.
- Dedication to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexibility to work around facility usage schedules and operational needs.
- Current Basic First Aid and CPR-C certification is an asset.
- Reliable personal vehicle and ability to travel between Penticton and Summerland locations.
