GFI, a Westport Fuel Systems company, designs and manufactures a comprehensive product mix of alternative fuel components for applications in the light and heavy-duty vehicle and industrial segments globally. This product mix includes Hydrogen (H2) components such as pressure regulators, tank valves, PRD's, PRV’s, shutoff valves and integrated systems for a wide range of automotive and non-automotive applications, including Fuel Cell vehicles.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in the growing alternative fuels industry. We're looking for energetic and motivated team members for our Hydrogen quality department team. This role is focused on inspecting components and assemblies, processing of rejected parts and working with suppliers to address non-conformities and reviewing quality documents such as PPAP’s. Ability to perform product testing and maintenance of records/databases.
Role Responsibilities

Measure parts using various tools such as Mitutoyo CMM, surface roughness testers, calipers, shadowgraph, height gauges etc...

Program Mitutoyo CMM for automatic measurement of components and assemblies

Create inspection reports and communicate them to appropriate internal or external suppliers

Participate in root cause analysis teams

Calibrate gauges and torque wrenches and/or management of calibration when outsourced

Identify and order new gauges and measurement tools when necessary
-
Review supplier dimensional reports and PPAP’s for completeness and communicate any deficiencies
-
Create incoming inspection report templates for parts
-
Manage incoming inspection priorities using MRP system

Manage deviations allowed on parts and distribute to team

Visit suppliers as necessary to review their processes and identify areas for improvement

Support internal quality audits.

Position Requirements
-
2+ years of relevant experience
-
CMM (Mitutoyo Crysta – Apex S) experience with programming and measuring (mandatory requirement)

Hands on experience with other measurement tools and techniques
-
Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing interpretations

Excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to interface with others in a professional manner

Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Excellent organizational skills

Experience in a machining and assembly environment considered a significant asset

Experience with MRP (JDE preferred)

Computer experience with Microsoft products

Working knowledge of quality standards such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:
This position requires to lift up to 25 lbs and to use various hand operated measurement tools and computer operated tools such as a CMM. The position requires bending, reaching, torquing fasteners, visually inspecting components and measuring components. This position will also perform office work and requires the ability to move throughout the building to interact with others. The position also requires use of computers; therefore finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard and calculator. The position may require occasional travel to vendors to audit or assist with issues.
