Industrial Electrician (Industrial Controls & Troubleshooting)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician with strong experience troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical systems and control equipment. This role supports manufacturing/industrial operations by diagnosing electrical and controls issues, minimizing downtime, and ensuring safe, reliable equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair industrial electrical systems, including motors, drives, sensors, and control circuits
- Exposure to issues in PLC-based control systems, HMIs, and industrial automation equipment would be an asset but not a requirement.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and control diagrams
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production equipment
- Install, modify, and test electrical wiring, conduit, panels, and control components
- Troubleshoot AC/DC systems, VFDs, relays, contactors, and motor starters
- Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to improve equipment reliability
- Follow all safety procedures, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and electrical codes (CEC)
- Document repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities
Required Qualifications
- Journeyman Electrician or equivalent industrial electrical experience
- Proven experience troubleshooting industrial controls and automated equipment
- Exposure and some knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and control circuits
- Ability to use electrical test equipment (multimeter, megger, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand electrical and control schematics
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Troubleshooting experience
- Experience in manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
- OSHA or safety certifications
- Exposure or experience with motor control systems
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in industrial environments
- Ability to lift up to [X] lbs
- Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces as required
