Role Profile Summary:
The Dispatcher is responsible for monitoring and coordinating daily parcel pickup and delivery activity to help ensure routes run on time and service commitments are met. This role supports live operations, driver communication, issue resolution and real-time decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Coordinate daily dispatch activities for pickups, deliveries and route execution across assigned areas or shifts.
- Monitor driver progress, route adherence, scan compliance and stop completion using dispatch and tracking systems.
- Communicate with drivers throughout the shift to provide route support, updates, reassignments and issue resolution.
- Escalate and help resolve exceptions such as failed deliveries, missed pickups, delays, traffic disruptions, driver no-shows and urgent customer requests.
- Work closely with sort operations to confirm parcel readiness, load priorities and launch timing.
- Liaise with customer service and internal teams on urgent customer-impacting issues and service recovery actions.
- Track open issues and provide accurate shift updates, logs and handover notes for the next operating window.
- Support capacity balancing by re-routing, reassigning or consolidating work when needed.
- Ensure dispatch records, communication notes and operational systems are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
- Follow escalation protocols, SOPs, compliance requirements and safety-related reporting procedures.
Job Prerequisites (Knowledge and Technical Skills where applicable or desirable):
- 1 to 3+ years of experience in dispatch, courier, transportation, field operations or a similar fast-paced logistics environment.
- Experience working with live operations software, GPS/route tracking tools, scanners or dispatch platforms preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to stay calm under pressure.
- Good judgement, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple live priorities at the same time.
- Basic to intermediate Excel and computer proficiency.
- Availability to work flexible shifts including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in an office and operations environment and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs if operational support is required.

Working Conditions:
This role supports a round-the-clock parcel operation and requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, including early mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, weekends and statutory holidays. The role may require extended periods of desk-based coordination along with movement through dispatch or operations areas as needed.
