Overview
We are seeking a motivated Entry Level Production Accountant / Expenditure Joint Venture Auditor to join our dynamic team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop foundational skills in financial analysis, auditing, and risk management within the production and joint venture sectors. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and possess a strong interest in joint venture auditing and energy accounting practices. This position provides valuable hands-on experience in joint venture audits, operational accounting, and the use of oil and gas software, supporting the company's commitment to excellence.
Please note: This is a hybrid role, with 4 days a week working at home, 1 day at our office in person (downtown Calgary).
Applicants must have previous oil and gas production accounting experience.
Duties
- Assist in conducting audits of production and expenditure audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with governing agreements.
- Support the review and analysis of financial data related to joint ventures, including expenditure tracking and reporting.
- Help identify potential risks associated with production costs and joint venture activities, contributing to risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with senior accountants and auditors to verify the accuracy of financial records.
- Participate in the preparation of audit reports and documentation for management review.
- Aid in maintaining organized records of financial transactions, audit findings, and compliance documentation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements based on analysis insights.
Skills
- Previous experience with production accounting (required).
- Basic understanding of oil and gas operations.
- Strong analysis skills with attention to detail to identify discrepancies or irregularities in financial data.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks accurately within deadlines.
- Eagerness to learn about joint ventures, production accounting, and Canadian energy industry best practices.
Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
