Overview
ICM offers a pathway to an undergraduate degree at the University of Manitoba. We are seeking expressions of interest from candidates seeking to be Teaching Assistants for university-level courses in areas including Agricultural & Food Sciences; Arts; Business; Engineering; Environment, Earth, & Resources; Recreation Management & Community Development; or Science. Key Responsibilities
- Meeting with course instructor(s) for onboarding and adherence to course delivery requirements
- Preparing and presenting tutorials in an English-only format
- Providing written feedback to students on the quality of material presented for grading or marking
- Administering and marking appropriate assessment instruments (ex: quizzes)
May be required in assisting with the production of lab assessments under the supervision of the course instructor(s).

Essential Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
- Completion of academic studies and experience which have resulted in an expertise specifically appropriate to assisting in the instruction of the course(s) assigned
- An empathetic approach to the instructional needs and concerns of students, particularly those of international students
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and meet agreed outcomes
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in the English language

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Professional experience in a relevant discipline area
- Public speaking experience, whether through previous TA experience or other relevant experience
- Exposure to the academic needs and requirements of international students
- Experience in a multicultural environment
