Fortis Mining, Engineering, & Manufacturing is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Underground Mining Construction Supervisor for a Potash project at the Colonsay mine site. This project is anticipated to run continuously, with a possibility of extension for this and other upcoming projects. You will need to be available for a 4-5-5-4 rotation. What You’ll Be Doing
- Safely and efficiently carry out the day-to-day project activities to support the continuous operations of site-specific belt reclamation, belt extension, and underground contruction projects
- Maintain safety and environmentally sound operating conditions within equipment design parameters
- Manage and direct personnel, and assist with employee training and qualifications
- Provide work direction to the team as well as timely and constructive feedback to ensure employees have a clear understanding of their work, roles, business goals, and performance standards
- Manage performance issues when necessary
- Develop and coach employees to retain and grow organizational talent, and support employees in their career development
- Facilitate ongoing communication to ensure proper and efficient contract operation, allocation and resources, safety and environmental
- Liaison between management, shift operations, and maintenance
- Work with operations and maintenance to troubleshoot and address operational problems in the rehab area to maximize production and safety
- Conduct audits and inspections
- Review and authorize work permits
What You Bring to the Table
- Minimum five (5) years of mining operations or mining construction experience
- Outstanding record of leading teams safely and efficiently
- Ability to work with people, coordinate functions with other departments and contractors
- Demonstrated ability to lead the crew in collaboration with the client’s needs
- Valid ticket to supervise underground as per Saskatchewan mine regulations or eligible to request certification
- Valid First Aid/ CPR certificates
- Valid WHMIS and SCOT
- Ability to work both day and night shifts
- Must display credibility and integrity to maintain the respect of superiors, subordinates, and peers
- Impeccable safety record
- Knowledge of commonly used software packages including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and desktop process control software
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Strong time-management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
- Strong problem identification and resolution skills
- Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
- Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, forklift, fall protection, etc.)
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
