Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Burk’s Falls, ON
About the role:
We are seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Almaguin Highlands Family Health Team (AHFHT) and provide primary nursing care to clients in Burk’s Falls and the surrounding area. In this role, you will be an essential member of the interdisciplinary care team, practicing to your full scope while delivering primary care and community health services across the region.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
· Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients of the Almaguin Highlands Family Health Team.
· Monitor patient symptoms and outcomes, document observations, and report changes in condition.
· Administer medications and provide treatments as prescribed or in accordance with established policies.
· Conduct health assessments and support patient care planning.
· Deliver health education and promotion tailored to client needs.
· Lead primary care appointments for services such as chronic disease management, smoking cessation, immunizations, well-baby and well-child visits, Pap tests, electrocardiograms (ECGs), sexual health counselling and testing, and TB testing.
· Educate and counsel patients and their families on health management and disease prevention.
Education and Experience
· Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse in the General Class.
· Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or diploma in nursing.
· Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
· 1–3 years of nursing experience in community health, primary care, or a similar setting.
Skills and Abilities:
· Strong knowledge of primary care, community health, chronic disease management, and immunization practices.
· Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
· Strong interpersonal, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
· Experience using electronic medical records (EMRs) with confidence and accuracy.
· Proficiency in core nursing skills, including blood pressure monitoring, suture and staple removal, wound care, charting, and ear syringing.
· Ability to adapt, innovate, and remain flexible in a fast-changing environment.
Conditions of Employment
· Must be available to work in person in Burk’s Falls five days per week.
· Valid Ontario driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
· Successful completion of a vulnerable sector check.
