Job Summary:
The Team Member, Sanitation is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment throughout the entire facility, in accordance with Good Production Practices (GPP) and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role is critical for preventing contamination, ensuring product quality, and upholding regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable, and understands the importance of sanitation in a controlled production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Grow Room Maintenance:
- Perform daily cleaning and sanitizing of all cultivation and production rooms, including floors, walls, and surfaces.
- Mop, sweep, and scrub floors to ensure they are free of debris and contaminants.
- Follow specific sanitation protocols for room turnover between crop cycles.
- Equipment and Supply Cleaning:
- Collect, clean, and sanitize all used cultivation supplies daily, such as pots, trays, tools, and buckets.
- Ensure all cleaned items are stored properly and are ready for re-use.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment according to safety guidelines.
- Facility-Wide Janitorial Duties:
- Perform weekly deep cleaning of office spaces, lunchrooms, locker rooms, and washrooms.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility and manage waste disposal in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
- Restock supplies in washrooms and common areas.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere strictly to all SOPs, GPP, and health and safety regulations (including WorkSafeBC and Health Canada).
- Maintain accurate sanitation logs and records for compliance and tracking purposes.
- Handle and mix cleaning chemicals safely, following WHMIS guidelines and using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or pest sightings to the Sanitation Supervisor immediately.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a sanitation, custodial, or janitorial role is required. Experience in a regulated environment such as food production, pharmaceuticals, or a licensed cannabis facility is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and equipment.
- WHMIS certification is considered an asset.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to cleaning.
- Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions and adhere to strict SOPs.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for extended periods, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs (23 kg), and working in warm and humid environments.
- Must be at least 19 years of age.
- Must be able to pass a criminal record check as required by Health Canada.
Work Environment:
This role operates within a controlled cannabis cultivation and processing facility. The Team Member will be required to wear company-issued PPE, including but not limited to coveralls, gloves, masks, and hairnets. The work environment may involve exposure to cleaning agents, water, varying temperatures, and humidity levels.
Pay: $22.00 per hour
