The Opportunity
Aurora provides a wide range of remediation Services to meet the environmental needs of projects in all sectors, including Oil & Gas, Pipelines, Utilities, Sand & Gravel, Forestry, and Municipalities. Our purpose is to enable responsible, sustainable development by working with clients to understand and manage impacts to the environment. Aurora offers a fast-paced working environment with a high degree of flexibility.
Aurora Environmental is seeking a Junior/Intermediate Environmental Scientist interested in a remote position that blends hands-on field work with office-based project support. The role is expected to involve an approximate 70/30 split between field and office work, with the opportunity to grow your role within the Aurora team! Role and Responsibilities:
- Providing advice and recommendations on project-specific assessments and regulatory requirements;
- Developing scope and managing projects of low to high complexity with multiple discipline teams, sub-consultants, and regulatory requirements
- Preparation of regulatory documents on behalf of clients
- Developing and maintaining direct contact with clients and stakeholders
- Coordination of sub-consultants
- Complete professional technical reports
- Complete field work assessments and required reporting
- Developing scopes of work and managing projects
Education & Experience:
- University Degree or Diploma in environmental science or related discipline.
- Entry-level to 6 years of consulting experience related to environmental site assessment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Willingness to travel and be in the field as dictated by project requirements
- Ability to work remotely from a home-based office
- Registration or eligibility to obtain designation with a professional organization in Saskatchewan/Alberta (i.e., AIA, SIA, APEGA, etc.).
- Excellent communication, writing, and problem-solving skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proven ability to work within a team environment
- Highly organized and with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks
A requirement of working for Aurora is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada. (A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions.
The Workplace
This position includes both field and office work, with approximately 70% of time spent in the field and 30% spent in the office.
