The Food Services Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of the optimal food service; such as meeting the dietary needs of our residents; using quality ingredients; diverse home-style meals; menus and budget planning; inventory control; plus quality staff management.
Responsibilities:
Ensures the quality of food preparation and service meets or exceed the facilities and resident’s standards.
- Monitors, orders, and receive supplies per weekly menu schedule, while maintaining cost controls, with commonly used recipes and fresh seasonal ingredients.
- Communicate in a strong, effective and polite manner with all departments.
- Ensure all sanitation and safety standards while maintaining documentation required in accordance with provincial, corporate and facility regulations, guidelines and policies.
- Must produce, purchase and present “home-style prepared meals”, with quality products, while adhering to menu expectations, budget allowances and objectives.
- In a supervisory role to dietary staff and relief cooks, ensuring the Highlands standards, procedures and policies are followed.
- Responds in a positive and timely manner to all internal and external resident’s requests and/or complaints.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year culinary school training and three years cooking experience. Previous experience in retirement residence setting an asset.
- Current Food Safe Certificate and experience working on a computer.
- Knowledge and understanding of therapeutic diets and nutrition.
- Physically able to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 20 lbs.
