Accounting Specialist
About NNTC:
The Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council is a governing body of the Nlaka’pamux Nation. Carrying out its mandate for over 40 years, NNTC exists to protect and advance Nlaka’pamux title and rights and is involved with the exercise of jurisdiction, cultural and natural resources, environmental sustainability, emergency management, food sovereignty, economic independence, health, and well-being. NNTC is an Nlaka’pamux entity, not a provincially or federally incorporated or regulated body however, NNTC utilizes a number of associated entities doing work in relation to archaeology, environment, wildlife, construction, and solar power to support its mandate. NNTC is dedicated to acting in the best interests of the Nlaka’pamux.
This Opportunity:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the accounting function across multiple entities. This role performs reconciliations, records financial transactions, assists with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, and works closely with senior management and controllers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Complete corporate credit card reconciliations and ensure supporting documentation is properly maintained.
- Prepare, post, and maintain journal entries (JEs) in the accounting system such as accruals, prepaid expenses, reclasses, etc.
- Perform intercompany reconciliations and assist with balancing due-to/due-from accounts between related entities.
- Record and process bill payments, customer payments, and other financial transactions.
- Assist the Corporate Accountant in maintaining organized electronic and physical filing systems for accounting records and supporting documentation such as monthly financials schedules and audit working papers.
- Assist with Project Accounting by supporting project related clean-ups, project close-out, and projects billing reconciliations.
- Provide administrative and accounting support to the finance team as needed.
- Assist the Corporate Accountant with Government compliance reporting, including the preparation, filing, and timely remittance of GST and Income tax.
- Assist the Payroll Administrator and the Corporate accountant with payroll source deductions remittance and payment of employee extended benefits including EHT, WCB, pension, employee income tax, etc.
- Assist with accounts payable (AP) functions, including invoice entry, coding, payment processing, and vendor inquiries.
- Assist with accounts receivable (AR) functions, including invoicing, payment application, collections support, and account monitoring.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Certificate, diploma, or education in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with accounting software such as NetSuite, Sage, QuickBooks, Workday, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with managers, controllers, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Compensation:
$60,000 - $65,000 per year
This role is based in NNTC’s Vancouver office. This is a full-time role and includes paid vacation, an extended benefit plan, and a defined contribution pension plan.
