Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Signal & Switch (S&C) Maintainer to join a growing rail operations team. Reporting to the Signal Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and maintaining railway signaling equipment to ensure the safe and efficient operation of rail networks.
This position is ideal for someone with experience in electrical, mechanical, or industrial maintenance who enjoys solving technical problems and working in a dynamic field environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and maintain railway signaling and communication equipment.
- Diagnose equipment malfunctions and complete repairs in a timely manner.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and respond to service calls when required.
- Maintain signaling components, including switches, relays, signals, and track circuits.
- Safely operate company road vehicles and rail equipment as required.
- Complete maintenance records and inspection reports while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Work closely with supervisors, technicians, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
- Follow all railway safety procedures and company policies while working near active rail lines and at elevated locations.
Qualifications
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.
- Experience in industrial electrical, electromechanical, mechanical, or railway maintenance.
- Railway signaling experience is considered a strong asset.
- CROR certification is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in electromechanics, industrial maintenance, automotive mechanics, or a related trade is preferred.
- Comfortable working at heights and in physically demanding environments.
- Able to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and maintenance documentation.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Capable of lifting and moving materials weighing up to 60 lbs.
- Valid Class 5 driver's licence required (Class 3 or Class 1 is an advantage).
- Flexible to work rotating schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call assignments.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Willing to travel to project sites when required.
- Able to successfully complete required railway background checks and mandatory training.
- English proficiency required; French is considered an asset.

Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Primarily Monday to Friday, day shifts.
- Rotating on-call schedule for evenings and weekends.
- Occasional travel to various project locations across Canada may be required.
