ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking a salaried Neurologist based at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL. The position provides Neurology services to residents of the Western Zone. The Neurologist is part of the Discipline of Internal Medicine and works as part of an interdisciplinary team, liaising with other members of the Medical Staff as required. Services include clinic-based neurology in addition to inpatient consultations.
Western Memorial Regional Hospital is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents.

QUALIFICATIONS

Medical Degree (MD) from a recognized institution

Eligible for licensure as a Neurologist with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)

Must satisfy credentialing and privilege requirements of NL Health Services including a satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive neurological care including clinic-based services and inpatient consultations

Conduct and/or interpret diagnostic tests and procedures to determine the nature of neurological illness

Make diagnoses based on test results and patient observation

Discuss treatment options with patients and their families

Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members and other Medical Staff as required

Deliver virtual care services as required

Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks, and implementing improvements
REMUNERATION
As per Memorandum of Agreement
The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from CAD 302,346 – CAD 327,486 as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines will officially determine a Physician's step assignment with yearly progression thereafter.
