Created by the provincial government, the DSB is responsible for overseeing and managing a range of services divested to the municipal order of government, including Ontario Works, Community Housing, Paramedic Services (Land Ambulance), Non-Urgent Patient Transportation and Early Learning and Child Care Services.

The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is comprised of 14 board members and has been in existence for 25 years. With three main departments, Integrated Human Services, Paramedic Services, and Administration, and over 200 employees, we service a large geographical area totaling 45,000 square km. Our organization is responsible for the development and execution of annual budgets exceeding $50 million. The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as a Human Resources Coordinator. The position will be in Espanola within our Administration Department.
In this position, you help us provide:
Confidential administrative and human resources support in relation to collective agreement and policy administration, labour and employee relations, workplace health and safety and wellness, benefit consultation and administration, attendance support, early and safe return to work and workplace accommodations, staffing and recruitment, total compensation administration, and disciplinary and performance management.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist the HR consultant by providing information as required.
- Maintain the HR Policy Manual and Policy Manual website.
- Provides human resources support in the administration of the collective agreement, policy and procedures, total compensation, staffing and recruitment, and performance management.
- Monitor regulations and legislative updates regarding all pertinent legislation.
- Maintain copies of personnel files.
- Maintain the Human Resources Data system as it applies to attendance, salary
- adjustments, benefits coverage, positions changes, and vacation records.
- Assists with the implementation, administration and maintenance of Human Resources Information Systems, including providing technical support and guidance to users.
- Collects data and prepares ad-hoc and regular reports on staffing-related metrics.
- Works with management in managing health-related claims, including reporting, early and safe return to work, workplace accommodations, and attendance support.
- Provide employees with information on benefits, regulations, procedures and company programs and rules.
- Benefit Consultation & Administration for employees.
- Compile and prepare reports and documents relating to personnel activities and benefits and pension plans as required as well as liaise with external service providers. Prepare required documentation for the administration of these programs.
- Arrange for advertising and posting of job vacancies
- Coordinates the onboarding process for new hires
Qualifications and Specific Skills:Education:
- Require a minimum of a College Diploma in Human Resources or Business program from an accredited Canadian College
Experience:
- 2 years relevant experience in human resources role
Computer Skills:
- Word processing (MS Office)
- Spreadsheets (Excel)
- Accounting applications
- Other related software used by the DSB
- Photocopier, Facsimile, Telephone, Scanner
Special Skills:
- Proficient computer skills and thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, etc.), Windows, Internet, and Adobe products.
- Proficient in various Human Resources Information Systems
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks while working in a supervised and unsupervised environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong working knowledge and understanding of legislation and regulations
- necessary to carry out the functions of the job, including but not limited to Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Employment Standards Act (ESA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), etc.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License with insured vehicle for employment-related use.
- Ability to travel across the district as required.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.

Salary: $38.05/hour (35 hours per week)
