The Organization
The Community Foundation of Prince Edward Island (“CFPEI” or the “Foundation”) is an incorporated, CRA Registered Charity that provides a ‘user-friendly’ vehicle for donors to create endowment, flowthrough, legacy and agency funds to support charitable activities. Income generated from these investments is directed through grants and scholarships to support a wide range of diverse needs in Prince Edward Island communities.
The Role
CFPEI is seeking an accomplished, community-focused Executive Director (“ED”) to provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the Foundation. As the Foundation’s senior executive, the ED serves as its primary ambassador and is accountable for advancing the mission, philanthropic growth, and community impact of the organization. This role is ideal for a relationship-driven leader who excels in building partnerships, thinks strategically, and is inspired by the opportunity to strengthen communities across Prince Edward Island through philanthropy.
The ED works closely with the Director of Operations, who is responsible for day-to-day operations and team management. The ED maintains organizational oversight, strategic alignment, and accountability. The ED’s primary focus is on fund development, donor relations, governance support and external engagement.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate is an approachable and collaborative community focused leader with experience working effectively with Boards, supported by a solid understanding of governance best practices. You bring demonstrated success overseeing organizational performance, including financial management, and the ability to translate strategy into measurable outcomes and organizational impact.
A strong communicator and demonstrated relationship builder, you are comfortable serving as the ambassador of the Foundation, engaging donors, volunteers, business leaders, government representatives, and community partners. You are a self-starter who thrives in a small or evolving organization. Comfortable moving between strategy and execution, you are equally at ease setting direction and rolling up your sleeves to get things done. You bring post-secondary education in a relevant field or equivalent experience, along with five years of progressive leadership experience, leading with integrity, sound judgment, discretion, and strong commitment to community impact and ethical leadership. A strong track record in fund development and bilingualism (English/French) are considered assets.
CFPEI is committed to employment equity and diversity and encourages applications from all qualified candidates.
