Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment & Truck Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and equipment. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand and power tools, and the ability to work on diverse equipment such as excavators, dozers, rock trucks, heavy trucks, passenger vehicles and construction equipment.. The mechanic will ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely, supporting our operational needs.
Duties
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment including excavators, rock trucks, dozers and heavy machinery
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
- Repair or replace faulty components using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other specialized tools
- Conduct repairs on automotive systems related to heavy trucks and passenger vehicles
- Maintain detailed service records and documentation of repairs performed
- Assist with assembly and installation of new equipment or machinery as needed
- Operate heavy equipment for testing purposes when required
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and manufacturer specifications
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues and improve maintenance procedures
Requirements
- Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on heavy equipment or truck repair
- Strong knowledge of Caterpillar and John Deere equipment considered an asset
- Hands-on experience in both shop and field setting
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and maintenance procedures
- Mechanical aptitude combined with excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills for interacting with team
- Valid certificate or license is a mandatory requirement
- Minimum of 5 years experience
