POSITION OVERVIEW
BGC Durham, in partnership with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE), is seeking five enthusiastic ball hockey coaches with a passion for working with children and youth. Coaches will mentor, encourage, supervise, and assist with game operations for participants aged 6-14. The role involves working 6 hours per week across two locations in Oshawa.
Coaches are required to work two evenings per week (Monday-Thursday), each evening at a different facility.
WORK INVOLVED
- Mentorship and Guidance: Provide mentorship and support to children and youth, fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
- Game Operations: Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of ball hockey games and activities.
- Skill Development: Teach and develop fundamental ball hockey skills, including passing, shooting, and teamwork.
- Supervision: Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during sessions.
- Program Coordination: Collaborate with other coaches and program staff to ensure smooth operations and effective communication.
- Behavior Management: Address any behavioral issues promptly and appropriately, maintaining a respectful and inclusive atmosphere.
- Equipment Management: Manage and maintain equipment, ensuring it is safe, clean, and organized.
- Attendance Tracking: Keep accurate records of participant attendance and participation.
- Reporting: Provide regular updates and feedback to program supervisors on participant progress and any issues that arise.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Standard First Aid & CPR-C
- Clear vulnerable sector screening
- Minimum 16 years of age
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Previous experience working with children and youth (required)
- Previous experience as a hockey or ball hockey player or coach (asset)
- Certified in High Five: Principles of Healthy Child Development (asset)
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be available to work evenings, Monday through Thursday.

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
