Overview
Nuvella Haven Care is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Behaviour Specialist / Behaviour Consultant to join our team. This role involves working closely with children who require behavioral support, implementing individualized intervention plans, and collaborating with families and educational teams to promote positive development. The ideal candidate will have experience in special education, patient care, and data collection, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and electronic medical records. Responsibilities
- Conduct Functional Behaviour Assessments (FBA)
- Develop crisis response plans
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans tailored to each child's needs
- Work directly with children in various settings, including homes, schools, and clinics
- Collect and analyze data on behavior patterns to assess progress and adjust strategies accordingly
- Collaborate with families, teachers, and healthcare professionals to ensure consistency across environments
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records in compliance with privacy regulations
- Provide training and support to caregivers and staff on behavior management techniques
- Observe and document behavioral incidents, ensuring timely reporting and follow-up
- Promote positive behavior reinforcement strategies to foster skill development and independence
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational or clinical settings is preferred
- Knowledge of special education practices and patient care procedures is advantageous
- Familiarity with medical terminology relevant to behavioral health
- Experience using electronic medical records systems for documentation purposes
- Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting related to behavioral interventions
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Degree in Psychology, Behaviour Analysis, Social Work, Rehabilitation, or related field
- Minimum 5 years behavioural support experience
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Experience with high-risk behaviours
Preferred:
- BCBA designation
- Registered Psychologist
- Complex Service Needs experience
- Mental health experience
- Forensic experience
This role is vital for supporting children’s developmental progress through compassionate care, strategic planning, and collaborative teamwork.
Pay: $30.00-$50.00 per hour
