We are expanding our team and are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Therapist with experience in EMDR therapy and working with first responders. Experience working with WSIB would be a strong asset.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will provide individual psychotherapy to adults, with a particular focus on trauma treatment. This role is ideal for a therapist who is passionate about helping clients recover from traumatic experiences and understands the unique challenges faced by first responders, including police officers, firefighters, paramedics, correctional officers and military personnel.
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality individual psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches.
- Develop individualized treatment plans.
- Deliver EMDR therapy for clients experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and related concerns.
- Support first responders and public safety personnel experiencing occupational stress injuries, trauma, burnout, anxiety, depression, and critical incident-related concerns.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and professional clinical documentation.
- Adhere to ethical standards and professional regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Required:
- Registration in good standing with the appropriate provincial regulatory college.
- Formal EMDR training (EMDRIA-approved or equivalent) and experience integrating EMDR into clinical practice.
- Experience providing trauma-informed therapy.
- Communication, and clinical documentation skills.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience
Preferred:
- Experience working with first responders, military personnel, veterans, or public safety professionals.
- Knowledge of occupational trauma, PTSD, moral injury, cumulative stress, and critical incident stress.
