Information Technology (IT) - Green Timbers Location
Working within the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit - BC (CFSEU-BC), British Columbia’s integrated anti-gang police agency, the Organized Crime Agency of BC (OCABC) is recruiting a hard-working, self-motivated candidate to provide technological support to the administrative and operational sections of CFSEU-BC.
Reporting to a Senior Infrastructure Specialist, this position will be responsible for:
- Setting up, deploying, and supporting all computers and peripherals within CFSEU-BC; including but not limited to: laptops, desktops, tablets, printers, scanners and monitors
- Managing Active Directory users and computers for the CFSEU-BC network
- Managing file and security access for users
- Acting as a Local Registration Authority (LRA) to facilitate Entrust activations for users’ tokens/smartcards
- Troubleshooting user issues relating to i2, ICU Workbench, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and various other software products
- Reporting and following up with warranty claims for defective devices
- Installing, maintaining and managing wiring for network services
- Deploying computer images for multiple types of hardware
- Signing out and tracking IT related equipment
- Other related duties, as required.
We are looking for a strong team player with a great attitude, and the following qualifications:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems OR completion of a two-year diploma in the Computer Systems discipline
- Certification(s) in an appropriate computer technology such as A+ and/or Network+
- Valid BC Driver’s License (Class 5)
- Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience is preferred; recent graduates with strong academic project work, co-op terms, or internship experience will be considered
- Familiarity or exposure to virtualization and VMware product suite through coursework, academic lab environments, or practical internships
- Knowledge or hands-on experience in installing and managing Windows based software.
- Strong foundational knowledge troubleshooting PCs, mobile devices, thin clients, and peripherals, with a desire to learn enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure and TCP/IP configuration
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Solid organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters
- Ability to diagnose hardware and/or software problems
- Required to periodically travel within British Columbia to support District offices and/or remote sites
- Ability to obtain and maintain an RCMP Top-Secret security clearance. An active RCMP clearance would be an asset.
Annual Salary: $70,902.00 - $73,710.00 - $76,518.00 - $79,345.50 - $82,153.50
This is a civilian unionized position with CUPE 718, working as and when required up to 37.5 hours per week. Rates negotiated in the new collective agreement with CUPE 718 will be applied to the current annual salary effective April 1, 2025.
This position requires in-office attendance.
