Overview
We are seeking enthusiastic and caring Camp Counsellors to join our dynamic summer team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with children in a fun, engaging outdoor environment, fostering their growth and development through a variety of activities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children, possess strong leadership skills, and enjoy creating memorable experiences for campers. Prior experience in early childhood education, tutoring, or teaching is highly valued, but a genuine interest in guiding young minds is essential. Duties
- Supervise and engage children in camp activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment
- Lead and facilitate group games, arts and crafts, sports, and educational activities tailored to different age groups
- Assist with the planning and implementation of daily schedules to ensure a balanced mix of fun and learning
- Support children’s social and emotional development by promoting teamwork, respect, and positive communication
- Monitor camper behavior and address conflicts or concerns promptly and effectively
- Maintain a clean and organized activity area, ensuring all equipment is safe and properly stored
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages participation and enjoyment
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding camper progress or concerns (as applicable)
Skills
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings is preferred
- Strong tutoring or teaching skills to support children's learning needs
- Knowledge of early childhood education principles to foster developmental growth
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with children, parents, and team members
- Creativity in planning engaging activities that cater to diverse interests and abilities
- Ability to remain patient, adaptable, and positive in dynamic outdoor environments
- Leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and inspire young campers
- Basic first aid knowledge is a plus but not required; training can be provided
