About the Cambridge Neighbourhood Table: The Cambridge Neighbourhood Table (CNT) is a community-driven initiative led by Kinbridge Community Association that brings neighbours together through shared meals, meaningful connections, volunteer opportunities, and community programming. Operating across multiple locations throughout Cambridge, CNT works to reduce isolation, foster belonging, and create welcoming spaces where everyone can participate, contribute, and thrive.
CNT currently operates community meal programs and engagement activities across five locations throughout Cambridge, including Kinbridge Community Association & St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Galt, the Freedom Centre & Langs in Preston, and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Hespeler.
Office and program hours may vary. For example, 9 am-5 pm or 11:30 am - 7:30 pm are common shifts.
Position Summary: The Community Engagement Worker plays a key frontline role in building relationships, strengthening community connections, supporting volunteers, and creating welcoming spaces where community members feel valued and engaged.
Working across multiple CNT locations, this position will focus primarily on community outreach and relationship-building during meals, programs, and special events. The successful candidates will also support volunteer recruitment and engagement, assist with community programming, and help promote CNT initiatives through storytelling and communications.
This position is ideal for students interested in community development, social services, recreation, communications, volunteer management, nonprofit work, or community engagement. Reliable transportation and access to a personal vehicle is considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Outreach & Relationship Building
- Welcome and engage community members at CNT meals, programs, and events.
- Build positive relationships with residents, volunteers, and community partners.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants.
- Encourage participation and help strengthen a sense of belonging within neighbourhoods.
- Gather feedback from community members and identify opportunities to enhance engagement.
Volunteer Recruitment, Engagement & Support
- Assist with volunteer recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Support volunteer scheduling and coordination alongside CNT Coordinators.
- Work with the volunteer Coordinator to welcome and orient new volunteers.
- Help ensure volunteers feel connected, supported, and appreciated.
Community Programming & Events
- Support the planning and delivery of workshops, activities, games, and community-building opportunities.
- Help identify programs and activities that align with community interests and needs.
- Assist with event setup, facilitation, and cleanup.
- Support special events, outreach initiatives, and neighbourhood celebrations throughout the summer.
- Support fundraising initiatives and events related to the Cambridge Neighbourhood Table and Kinbridge Community Association.
- Work alongside the Social Impact Manager and the CNT & Community Initiatives Coordinator to engage local businesses and community groups in each neighbourhood
- Provide support to CNT community partner programs as required.
Communications, Storytelling & Promotion
- Capture photos, stories, and community impact moments.
- Assist with creating social media content and promotional materials.
- Help raise awareness of CNT programs, volunteer opportunities, and events.
- Support outreach efforts that encourage greater community participation.

- Experience in food handling and preparation.
- Safe Food Handler Certificate
- Ability to travel between multiple Cambridge locations.
- Valid G2 license and access to a personal vehicle.
