Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Summer Camp Director to lead our seasonal program. We will be running three, one week camps in August and into early September.
This role is ideal for a passionate individual with strong leadership skills, experience in project management, and a love for working with youth. The Summer Camp Director will oversee all aspects of the camp, ensuring a safe, engaging, and educational environment for participants. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on children’s summer experiences while demonstrating excellent administrative and team management abilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the summer camp program curriculum, activities, and schedules to ensure an enriching experience for all participants.
- Recruit, train, and supervise two camp staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Oversee daily operations of the camp, ensuring safety protocols are followed and that all activities adhere to licensing and organizational standards.
- Conduct research on best practices in youth engagement, safety procedures, and innovative programming to continually improve the camp experience.
- Maintain detailed administrative records related to registration, attendance, staff schedules, and incident reports.
- Collaborate with parents, community partners, and stakeholders to enhance program offerings and address concerns promptly.
- Lead staff meetings, provide ongoing training opportunities, and evaluate staff performance throughout the season.
Skills
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent research skills to stay informed about youth development trends and safety regulations.
- Proven administrative experience with attention to detail in record keeping and reporting.
- Experience in teaching or working directly with children or youth programs is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
