Elderly Home Support Worker NOC 44101
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly responsible, compassionate, and proactive Elderly Home Support Worker NOC 44101 for a full-time, live-out position in Vaughan. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive daily care and administrative support for seniors with specialized needs. Key focus areas include managing complex mobility assistance devices and strictly executing diabetic meal planning and sugar-level monitoring.

Key Responsibilities & Duties
1. Specialized Mobility Support & Personal Care
- Device Management: Safely assist clients with the proper deployment, adjustment, and cleaning of mobility devices (e.g., walkers, rollators, wheelchairs, or mechanical lift transfers).
- Safe Transfers: Execute secure, strain-free transfers (bed-to-chair, chair-to-vehicle) adhering to strict fall-prevention and body-mechanics guidelines.
- Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Provide respectful assistance with bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, grooming, and toileting.
- Health Observation: Log and communicate any changes in physical mobility, joint health, or standard pain thresholds.
2. Diabetic Care & Nutritional Management
- Diabetic Meal Preparation: Plan, grocery shop for, and prepare fresh, low-glycemic, portion-controlled meals strictly adhering to prescribed diabetic dietary restrictions.
- Glucose Tracking Assistance: Help remind and assist the seniors with regular blood-glucose tracking and insulin/medication reminders as outlined in the care plan.
- Symptom Monitoring: Maintain vigilance for physical signs of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia (e.g., sudden dizziness, confusion, or extreme lethargy) and act according to emergency protocols.
3. Household Management & Executive Assistance
- Daily Logistics: Schedule, coordinate, and manage a clean calendar of medical appointments, specialists, and wellness activities.
- Transportation: Safely drive clients to Vaughan-area medical facilities, pharmacies, and grocery stores using a reliable vehicle.
- Light Housekeeping: Ensure a tidy and completely hazard-free home environment by managing laundry, dishes, and clutter that could pose tripping risks.
- Companionship: Provide engaging, positive mental stimulation and cognitive activities to promote emotional well-being.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Lifestyle Restrictions: Must be a strict non-smoker (including e-cigarettes/vaping). No personal pets may be brought to the workplace.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional experience as a senior caregiver or personal assistant, with verified experience handling physical mobility equipment and diabetic clients.
- Certifications: Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate from an accredited Ontario college or an equivalent recognized Health Care Assistant credential is highly preferred.
- First Aid / CPR: Current Standard First Aid and Level C CPR certifications.
- Transit Requirements: Valid Ontario G-class Driver’s License with a clean driving record and a reliable vehicle available for daily errands preferred.
- Background Check: A clear, recently completed Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check is mandatory.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to perform repetitive bending, lifting, and transferring maneuvers up to 23 kg securely and safely.
