Your future role on our team
BBA is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Structural Designer to join our Trail office, supporting a diverse portfolio of projects across the mineral processing, natural resources, energy (including renewables), mining and metals, pulp and paper, biofuels, and oil and gas sectors.
In this role, your day-to-day work will focus on the preparation of drawings for civil, structural, and geotechnical projects throughout the region. You will primarily contribute to heavy industrial projects, including dam structures, brownfield structural steel and foundation upgrades, and slope stability improvements.

With Us, You Will Have the Opportunity To
- Prepare drawings and sketches for new installations, modifications, and repairs
- Develop basic preliminary designs in collaboration with Professional Engineers
- Coordinate and communicate with mechanical, civil/structural/geotechnical, electrical, and environmental disciplines on multidisciplinary projects
- Visit active work sites to inspect, measure, verify, and gather information in support of drawings and reports
- Present findings through drawings, discussions, graphic presentations, and project documentation
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on 3D models
- Work with project teams to identify, and implement solutions to resolve design issues
- Apply and adhere to BBA and client-specific CAD standards and templates
- Support quality control initiatives
- Design or redesign complex layouts and drawings based on written or verbal project specifications
- Maintain internal design record databases per BBA standard with any document or file that is created or modified

Overview of certifications and job requirements
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (preferred), with demonstrated expertise in drafting and CAD technologies
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and/or other GIS or CADD software
- Minimum 5 years of experience preparing design drawings
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to safely visit and work on active industrial sites
- Working knowledge of national and local codes related to loads, steel, and concrete design
