Senior Bilingual Account Manager, Associations and Affinity Groups (Insurance)

Build meaningful association relationships while positioning yourself for a future leadership opportunity within a specialized Associations and Affinity Groups insurance practice. This permanent full-time role offers the chance to own strategic member programs, lead complex renewals, partner with association leaders and insurer partners, and contribute to the continued growth of the Quebec portfolio. The successful candidate will act as a senior resource within the practice, drive program performance and member value, and progressively demonstrate the leadership, strategic contribution, business impact, and readiness required for potential advancement toward a future Practice Leader opportunity.
What is in it for you:
- Annual salary of $90K-$110K, based on experience.
- Annual qualitative discretionary bonus is up to 12% of base salary and an uncapped variable bonus based on team performance, including revenue growth over the prior year.
- Permanent full-time position.
- Standard schedule from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- 40-hour work week with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break.
- Hybrid work environment with approximately 90% remote work and 10% in-office attendance for team meetings and events.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership while leading complex renewals, contributing to annual business planning, strengthening association and insurer relationships, and influencing program strategy, member value, retention, and growth. Responsibilities
Association Relationship & Member Program Management
- Support and strengthen strategic relationships with association leaders.
- Provide a consultative and proactive experience that helps associations and members make informed decisions regarding insurance solutions, risk management needs, and program value.
- Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for assigned association programs, providing strategic insurance guidance and practical recommendations.
- Build strategic relationships with association decision-makers and insurer partners to support member value, retention, and long-term practice growth.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the member experience, improve retention, and expand program value beyond daily servicing activities.
- Drive cross-selling and referral opportunities to internal teams, including Personal Insurance, Commercial Enterprise, and Life & Benefits, where aligned with association and member needs.
Program, Renewal & Portfolio Ownership
- Lead complex renewals and strategic association initiatives from planning through execution, ensuring timely coordination, accurate documentation, and strong stakeholder communication.
- Own a high volume of renewals by coordinating with internal teams, insurers, assistant account managers, and service partners while maintaining accountability for program outcomes.
- Champion accurate client and program records within the Broker Management System and other company portals.
- Drive financial operations related to assigned programs, including invoicing, payment collection, account reconciliation, and issue resolution in collaboration with internal teams.
- Analyze program performance, member value, retention trends, financial performance, and growth opportunities to support informed business decisions.
- Identify solutions and coverage enhancements that strengthen association programs and respond to evolving member needs.
Strategic Program Development
- Contribute to annual business planning, program strategy, growth planning, and financial performance discussions for the Associations and Affinity Groups practice.
- Lead and influence initiatives focused on program retention, member experience, portfolio growth, and operational effectiveness.
- Provide insights on market conditions, emerging risks, association needs, insurer appetites, and opportunities to improve program competitiveness.
- Champion initiatives that increase member engagement, program visibility, retention, and practice growth within the Quebec portfolio.
- Drive recommendations that improve service delivery, operational efficiency, and the overall value proposition for associations and members.
- Identify growth opportunities beyond daily program management and translate them into practical action plans.
Insurer, Market & Stakeholder Relationships
- Represent the Practice Leader in meetings with associations, insurers, and internal stakeholders when appropriate.
- Act as a senior liaison between associations, members, internal teams, and insurance companies regarding underwriting concerns, renewal strategy, coverage options, terms, and solutions.
- Develop and maintain strong insurer partner relationships that support program competitiveness, service quality, and long-term growth.
- Lead discussions with insurer partners relating to program needs, underwriting considerations, coverage enhancements, and market solutions.
- Apply sound judgment in complex situations, balancing member needs, association objectives, insurer requirements, and business priorities.
- Stay informed regarding industry trends, emerging risks, regulatory developments, insurer appetites, and market conditions to better advise associations and internal stakeholders.
Leadership, Coaching & Practice Development
- Coach and mentor Account Managers, Assistant Account Managers, and newer team members by sharing expertise, best practices, and program knowledge.
- Lead cross-functional projects and operational improvement initiatives that strengthen service delivery, collaboration, and practice performance.
- Influence a collaborative, client-focused, member-focused, and results-oriented culture within the Associations and Affinity Groups practice.
- Champion capability development by helping team members build confidence, technical knowledge, and stronger account management skills.
- Partner with senior leadership on initiatives that support practice growth, succession planning, and future leadership readiness.
- Demonstrate executive presence, strong communication, and senior stakeholder relationship management in interactions with associations, insurers, and internal leaders.
What you will need to succeed:
Required qualifications
- RIBO License required / AMF License or willingness to obtain the license.
- Bilingual in English and French with the ability to present, communicate, and build relationships with associations, stakeholders, insurers, and internal teams in both languages, including quarterly travel to Quebec.
- Minimum five years of experience in Account Management, Sales, Underwriting, or related roles within an insurance brokerage or insurance company.
- Experience managing insurance programs, commercial accounts, affinity programs, association relationships, or member-focused portfolios.
- Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with the ability to connect program activity to retention, growth, member value, and financial performance.
- Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and influence outcomes.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines successfully.
- Sound judgment and problem-solving ability in complex situations involving multiple stakeholders, deadlines, and business considerations.
- Client-centric and member-focused mindset with a collaborative, accountable, and team-oriented approach.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to Associations and Affinity Groups, specialty programs, Commercial Insurance, Professional Liability Insurance, Commercial General Liability Insurance, or Group Insurance is considered a strong asset.
- Experience working closely with underwriting teams, insurer partners, association stakeholders, or senior decision-makers.
- Previous mentoring, coaching, team lead, capability development, or leadership experience is considered an asset.
- Project leadership, operational improvement, or change management experience is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to identify growth opportunities beyond day-to-day program management.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze program performance, member value, retention, growth opportunities, and financial impact.
