Receptionist /Animal Care Assistant
Duties:
- Answering the phone, booking and processing appointments, greeting clients, discharging patients ,selling food, unpacking orders, stocking shelves.
-Ordering supplies , receiving supplies, maintaining computer records for inventory , expiries , patient reminders, call backs etc
- follow up calls to clients. Background in basic animal diseases and preventative care will be needed or must be learned
Support/back up for animal care duties shared with part- time staff:
- Provide daily care and maintenance for animals in the vet clinic if needed
- Assist with animal handling and restraint during procedures or examinations if needed
- Clean and sanitize animal enclosures, equipment, and common areas as needed
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, treatments, and observations- laundry, general cleanliness of the facility(shared duties with present part-time staff)
Depending on your experience + strengths in each area , matched with our present staff you maybe asked to help in the back but the position is heavier on the reception side. Flexibility is an asset.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with animals in a veterinary office environment ( 1 year minimum) is a must
- Knowledge of basic animal care and handling techniques - Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with veterinary staff and clients
- Basic computer skills, experience with Avimark an advantage
- A willingness to learn and grow
Please note that this position may require 1-2 evening shifts(to 6pm) or weekend hours(1-2 Saturdays per month 9-3pm based on the needs of our patients. We offer competitive compensation for eligible employees.
