About the role:
Skilled Trades College of Canada (STC) is seeking a high-performing Corporate Senior Accountant to support the financial operations of our organization. Based in Vaughan, ON this role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, preparing financial reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
As a key member of the Finance team, you will work closely with leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making and organizational growth. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical accounting expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous process improvement.
In this role, you will make a meaningful impact by helping ensure the financial health and sustainability of the organization, supporting our mission to prepare the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Corporate & Head Office Accounting
- Own the full accounting cycle for Head Office and related entities
- Prepare monthly and quarterly Head Office financial statements
- Ensure accurate recording of management fees, overhead allocations, and corporate expenses
- Support corporate‑level budgeting and forecasting with accurate data
2. Intercompany, and related schedules
- Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations across groups of entities
- Ensure all intercompany balances are accurate, documented, and settled
- Support the Controller in preparing financial statements
- Maintain corporate‑level schedules for eliminations
3. Month‑End Close & Financial Reporting
- Complete month‑end journal entries, accruals, and adjustments for corporate entities
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Ensure all corporate and Head Office reconciliations are completed by deadlines
- Provide accurate financial data to FP&A for monthly executive reporting
- Assist with variance analysis and corporate‑level insights
4. Compliance, Controls & Year‑End Support
- Maintain audit‑ready working papers for corporate entities
- Support external accountants during year‑end reviews and tax preparation
- Ensure compliance with ASPE/GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Strengthen internal controls related to corporate and intercompany processes
- Assist with corporate tax filings, and other statutory requirements
5. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Controller to ensure a clean, timely close
- Partner with the Senior FP&A to reconcile intercompany activity
- Provide guidance to Coordinators on corporate‑related tasks
- Participate in process improvement and system enhancement initiatives
What you need to be successful:
- Working toward CPA strongly preferred
- 8–10 years progressive accounting experience
- Experience with multi‑entity, corporate, or consolidation environments
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset
- Strong understanding of ASPE/GAAP, and intercompany processes
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems an asset
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

- Manages intercompany and consolidation schedules with precision
- Completes Intercompany schedules independently and accurately
- Supports a clean, fast month‑end close
- Acts as a trusted partner to the Controller and DOF
- Strengthens processes and contributes to a scalable finance function during growth
