Well Licensing & Regulatory Specialist for our client in the energy sector. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with extensive experience in well licensing, regulatory reporting, drilling and completions, and well lifecycle management.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating regulatory applications, managing well data throughout the asset lifecycle, supporting drilling and completions reporting, and ensuring compliance with provincial regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with asset teams, technical specialists, and external partners to support critical business operations and regulatory obligations across Western Canada.

Responsibilities:
Well Licensing & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare, coordinate, and submit well licence applications, amendments, and regulatory filings in accordance with applicable provincial regulations.
- Work closely with asset teams to ensure licensing applications meet project requirements and regulatory timelines.
- Support internal due diligence reviews and approval processes related to licensing activities.
- Communicate regulatory requirements, timelines, and submission processes to internal stakeholders.
Drilling & Completions Reporting
- Submit required drilling and completions information to regulatory authorities in the prescribed format.
- Manage the reporting of fracture stimulation data, drilling records, well logs, and completion information.
- Ensure key well lifecycle events and status changes are accurately recorded in corporate systems.
- Maintain the integrity of well data to support corporate reporting, well tax calculations, insurance requirements, and operational decision-making.
Information & Data Management
- Maintain and update well files throughout the entire well lifecycle.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of information within regulatory and internal systems.
- Manage well lifecycle documentation from licence acquisition through reclamation and final closure.
- Support corporate reporting requirements through accurate data entry and record management.
Abandonment & Reclamation
- Prepare and submit abandonment documentation and regulatory reports for downhole and surface abandonment activities.
- Record abandonment activities accurately within corporate well management systems.
- Receive and process reclamation certificates.
- Update well file statuses and documentation to reflect end-of-life activities and regulatory closure requirements.
Well Lifecycle & Reporting Activities
- Manage and document well status changes, including start-ups, suspensions, reactivations, and other operational changes.
- Receive, review, file, and submit well testing information to regulatory agencies.
- Track well lifecycle milestones and ensure timely completion of required submissions.
- Coordinate and manage reporting obligations across multiple well stages simultaneously .
Partner & Stakeholder Coordination
- Track contractual obligations related to partner-operated and jointly owned wells.
- Exchange and manage downhole information with industry partners.
- Collaborate with technical teams, land departments, drilling and completions teams, and external stakeholders.
- Support business initiatives through effective communication and regulatory expertise.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certification in Petroleum Land Administration, Petroleum Technology, Energy Administration, or a related technical discipline preferred.

Additional training related to drilling, completions, regulatory compliance, or well operations is considered an asset.

7-10 years of experience in well licensing, well reporting, drilling and completions, regulatory compliance, or well lifecycle administration.

Experience as a Well Technician, Drilling & Completions Technician, Regulatory Specialist, or a similar role.

Experience managing regulatory submissions and reporting requirements within the oil and gas industry.

Experience supporting wells across multiple provinces in Western Canada is considered a strong asset.

Strong understanding of well licensing processes and regulatory requirements.

Knowledge of drilling, completions, abandonment, reclamation, and well lifecycle reporting.

Ability to analyze downhole information and determine regulatory reporting requirements.

Understanding of corporate well data management systems and reporting processes.

Experience with well information management systems such as Generwell or similar platforms is considered an asset.

Familiarity with regulatory submission systems and provincial energy regulators.
