POSITION OVERVIEW
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving partnerships and revenue, expanding GRETA’s presence within the Toronto market through proactive outbound sales, strategic partnerships, and community engagement.
This role is highly external and relationship-driven, with a strong focus on being active within the local market - attending networking events, conventions, and industry functions to build meaningful connections and generate new business opportunities.
The position focuses on securing corporate bookings, private events, and group business - while also developing long-term partnerships with local businesses and organizations. In addition to new business acquisition, this role is responsible for maintaining established client relationships that continue to drive recurring revenue.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years of experience in outside sales, hospitality sales, event sales, or a related revenue-generating role
- Demonstrated ability to independently prospect, qualify, close, and renew business
- Strong relationship management skills with the ability to maintain long-term client partnerships and drive repeat revenue
- Proven experience managing a sales pipeline, forecasting revenue, and meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Working knowledge of CRM and booking platforms, including tools such as Tripleseat and OpenTable, or comparable systems
- Ability to accurately document leads, contracts, client communications, and event details within CRM systems
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to balance new business development and ongoing account management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence presenting offerings and negotiating terms
- Comfortable working autonomously in an outside sales environment while remaining accountable to targets and reporting
- Ability to translate venue capabilities (capacity, pricing, F&B offerings, timelines) into compelling client proposals
- Understanding of group booking dynamics, seasonal demand, and revenue optimization within a bar or entertainment venue
- Familiarity with event sales workflows, including proposals, contracts, deposits, and post-event follow-up
- Existing local network of corporate, event, or hospitality contacts considered an asset
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate new business through outbound prospecting, networking, and strategic partnerships
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships to drive repeat bookings, renewals, and long-term revenue
- Identify upsell and expansion opportunities within existing accounts
- Meet or exceed sales targets tied to both new and repeat revenue
- Document and refine sales processes that support acquisition, renewal, and account growth
- Build standardized workflows for lead qualification, follow-up cadences, renewal timelines, and rebooking strategies
- Continuously assess sales performance data to improve efficiency, conversion, and retention
- Serve as the primary relationship owner for key accounts and repeat clients
- Build long-term partnerships with corporate clients, event planners, hotels, and community organizations
- Ensure a high level of client satisfaction to drive referrals and repeat business
- Represent the brand externally through networking events, community engagement, and industry functions
- Identify market trends and client needs that can inform programming, pricing, and sales strategy
- Act as a brand ambassador, positioning the venue as a preferred long-term partner for group experiences
- Ensure smooth handoff from sales to execution while remaining involved post-event for follow-up and renewal opportunities
- Gather client feedback and translate insights into improved offerings and sales strategies
- Track acquisition, renewal, and repeat revenue performance using CRM or internal tools
- Maintain accurate pipelines, forecasts, and account records
- Provide regular insights to leadership on client retention, rebooking rates, and long-term account value
AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Flexibility is required to accommodate client meetings, networking events, and on-site support for booked events, which may occasionally occur during evenings and weekends.
- Availability outside of regular business hours is expected on an as-needed basis to support key client relationships, event execution, and revenue opportunities.
COMPENSATION, PERKS & BENEFITS
- Base salary range of $45,000 to $55,000 based on experience
