The Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council (NSCSC) has an immediate opening for a friendly organized “do-er” with superior communication and organizational skills. Working under the direction of the Youth Engagement Lead, and alongside the Youth Outreach Coordinator (YOC), you will be assisting in the ongoing development and delivery of the ‘Mobile Construction Experience (MCE), a youth and community engagement program aimed at providing an interactive career awareness experience for rural Nova Scotia. The MCE is a mobile trailer which contains a modified version of the Council’s Trades Exhibition Hall. This position will also aid in the facilitation of Summer Camps, Career Fairs, and our annual Trades Exhibition Hall Open House.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
As part of the Mobile Construction Experience team, you will be responsible for:
Planning/Implementation
· The ongoing delivery of the MCE program (geared towards rural Grade 7 & 8 students and community partners) to learn about construction occupations through hands-on immersive activities and educational displays.
· Sourcing and acquiring the necessary materials and equipment for the delivery of the program.
· Researching and developing relevant program communications including any necessary forms, letters, reports, safety plans, etc.
· Assisting with the completion of funding and claim documents associated with the delivery of the program.
· Hosting industry professionals and others to participate in the program events.
· Helping to manage all aspects of the events including coordinating facilities, staffing displays, tours, transportation of displays, travel, etc.
· Co-facilitating the events to ensure program outcomes are met.
Education/Engagement
· Assisting with developing or sourcing the necessary resources to reach defined learning outcomes for students who participate in the program.
· Collaborating with the development of sponsorship strategies which involves partnering with industry organizations, suppliers and others to maximize resources and funding opportunities.
· Aiding in the coordination of any necessary training or orientation activities for event participants, both students and industry professionals.
Communications
· Weekly logging of project activities to meet reporting requirements.
· Collaborating with members of our industry services team on social media posts to promote and highlight activities.
· Preparing regular reports on the progress and delivery of the program.
· Serving as a representative of the NSCSC at events as required to promote program opportunities (i.e. Career Fairs or other events as required).
· Attending meetings as required to report on the progress and delivery of the MCE.
Other
· Serve as back-up on an ad hoc basis, for and support the Trades Exhibition Hall Coordinator in youth/career promotion activities, such as career fairs, school visits and presentations.
· Other duties that may be required for the efficient delivery of Council services and initiatives.

-Knowledge of Skilled Trades, Apprenticeship and/or construction management occupations would be an asset.
-Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced results-oriented environment.
-Flexibility to adapt to changes in project requirements, scheduling, and deliverables.
-Proactive – takes initiative and possesses excellent research and problem-solving skills.
-Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
-Basic knowledge in project management and experience in event management.
-Aptitude and interest in various technologies is considered an asset.
-Able to obtain a clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector checks.
-Valid driver’s license and own transportation
-Experience driving a full-size truck and cargo trailer.
-Individuals must be able to meet physical demands as required, including (but not limited to): lifting/pushing/pulling of approximately 50 lbs., bending, standing for extended periods, and walking for extended periods.
Availability and willingness to travel in the spring, summer and fall for a week at a time, for multiple weeks.

Work Environment
Fast-paced, small office environment; event venues outside Halifax and across the province will vary; will include physical setup, outdoor activities and periods of driving in varying weather conditions. Driving the company truck is required.
Hours of Work
Typically, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Monday to Friday) with extended periods of travel that will require multiple overnight stays during program delivery.
