Parallel Project Inc. | Ontario
We're building something different.
Parallel Project is a new construction company with a different mindset.
Our founder comes from a background that combines technology-industry culture, construction sales, and hands-on project development. We're taking some of the things that make great technology companies successful — communication, accountability, autonomy, continuous improvement, and putting people first — and bringing them into the construction industry.
We're looking for a Red Seal Rough Carpenter who wants more than just a job.
We are looking for someone who wants to help build the company alongside us.
The Role
This position will take a leadership role on our residential prefabricated housing projects, with opportunities to cross over into the commercial building envelope side of the business when required.
You will be responsible for leading a small crew, maintaining quality and production standards, coordinating with the office and other trades, and helping us continuously improve how we build.
We're looking for someone who can take ownership of a project without needing someone standing over their shoulder.
Your experience and ideas will matter here.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and work alongside a crew on prefabricated residential housing projects
- Read and interpret architectural and construction drawings
- Coordinate daily activities, materials, tools, and manpower
- Maintain high standards for quality, safety, and productivity
- Help plan and sequence work efficiently
- Communicate directly with ownership and the project team
- Identify problems early and help develop solutions
- Train and mentor less-experienced crew members
- Work across different construction environments as required
- Assist with commercial building envelope projects when required
- Contribute ideas that improve our systems, processes, and construction methods
What We're Looking For
- Red Seal Carpenter certification
- Strong rough carpentry experience
- Previous experience leading a crew or acting as a lead hand
- Ability to read drawings and understand construction details
- Strong understanding of residential construction
- Ability to work independently and make good decisions on site
- Reliable, accountable, and organized
- Strong communication skills
- A "figure it out" mentality
- Pride in your workmanship
- Someone who wants to contribute to something that is being built from the ground up
The Person We're Really Looking For
We're less interested in finding someone who simply wants to punch a clock.
We're looking for someone who sees an opportunity to help build a company.
Parallel Project is intentionally being built as a small company where the people doing the work have a voice in how the company operates.
If you see a better way to do something, we want to hear it.
If you see an opportunity for the company, we want you to bring it forward.
If something isn't working, we want you to tell us.
Your role isn't limited to the work happening on the job site. As we grow, there will be opportunities to take on more responsibility, lead larger crews, participate in project planning, and help shape the direction of the company.
Why Parallel Project?
Small company. Big opportunity.
- Culture first — We believe good companies are built around good people.
- Everyone knows your name — You're not a number on a payroll spreadsheet.
- Your contribution is visible — When the company succeeds, the people who helped build it should feel that success.
- A real voice in the company — We want our field team involved in the growth of the business.
- Unlimited vacation — We care about the work getting done, not counting how many vacation days you have left.
- Extra-long long weekends — We believe working hard and enjoying your life aren't mutually exclusive.
- Variety — Residential prefabrication, commercial construction, and building envelope work.
- Room to grow — We're building the company from the ground up, which means there is significant opportunity for the right person to grow with it.
Our Mindset
We're trying to build a construction company that people actually want to work for.
That means we care about how we communicate with each other.
We care about whether people enjoy coming to work.
We care about doing good work.
We care about developing people.
And we care about building a company that is sustainable for the people inside it — not just profitable for the people at the top.
If you're looking for the next 6-month job, this probably isn't it.
If you're looking for a company you can help build for the next 5–10 years, we'd like to meet you.
