G1 SERVICE TECHNICIAN – HIGH RISE HVAC / MECHANICAL
Element Building Systems – GTA
We are hiring an experienced G1 Service Technicians for high-rise and mid-rise buildings across the GTA.
This is a core service role working on central plant and mechanical room systems.
If your experience is mainly residential installs or light service, do not apply.
Scope of Work
- Service and troubleshoot central plant equipment:
- Boilers (condensing, non-condensing, staging systems)
- Make-Up Air Units (MUA)
- Chillers (air-cooled / water-cooled)
- Cooling Towers
- AHUs, HRVs, ERVs
- Pumps, hydronic systems, heat exchangers
- Perform seasonal changeovers (heating ↔ cooling)
- Conduct full mechanical room inspections and reporting
- Diagnose controls, safeties, and sequence of operations issues
- Work alongside controls/BAS technicians when required
- Support shutdowns, emergency repairs, and system startups
- Must Have (Hard Requirements)
- G1 Gas License (no exceptions)
- 5–7 years experience in high-rise / central plant systems
- Strong troubleshooting experience (not just maintenance checklists)
- Experience with:
- Boiler plants
- MUA systems
- Chillers / Cooling towers
- Valid G Driver’s License (clean abstract preferred)
- WHMIS Certification
- Ability to read:
- P&IDs
- Wiring diagrams
- Mechanical schematics
- Preferred / Big Company Level Expectations
- 313A Refrigeration License or working towards it
- Experience with BAS / Controls systems (Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, etc.)
- Knowledge of Ontario Gas Code / TSSA requirements
Experience with:
- VFD systems
- Expansion tanks, air separators
- Chemical treatment coordination
- Ability to perform root cause analysis, not just part replacement
- Experience handling service documentation, reporting, and client communication
- Comfortable working in live buildings (condos, occupied spaces)
